Debunking Mother's Day

At what point is mother's day going to start feeling like a day that is about me? Here we are, my 4th year as a mom, and I still feel like this is a holiday where I should be honoring my own parent. My sweet husband doesn't help, he's never been much of a Hallmark guy, and I think he is stuck in the same thought- that mother's day is about HIS mom. Some days it feels like we're still teenagers. My daycare provider was wonderful though, she had all the kids make picture frames and took pictures of them holding signs that said "I LOVE YOU" to put in the frames. Adorable. I guess even when I'm not quite convinced this holiday is about me, someone else is there to remind me that it is.

I know this is late to comment but on Mother's Day I have made it a day for HIS mom and me. Therefore, we both are honored. I a mom of 2, 26 and 25. Now a grandmother of a 9 year old. It's called being creative. Think about it. When your child get older and you are the main focus on Mother's Day. The wife or husband of you child might just feel the same way. Just think of creative ways. I've been doing it for 22 years. Believe it can be fun!
