Multi-tasking Overload

As a working mom being able to multi-task is a life saver for me. I've always been good at juggling lots of things and it has paid off for me in the working world. I can handle needing updates yesterday on 10 web sites without blinking an eye! It is one of my strong points.

However, the holidays put it to a test. Actually...it breaks! LOL Pulling of a successful Christmas for my three year old son and making my house a place to celebrate on top of all the work things I need to do at the end of the year, pushes my multi-tasking skills. All of the stuff to do for Christmas is a juggling act in itself...cards to design and mail, presents to buy and wrap, decorations to hang, etc. Here's a couple of tips that I've found help me manage the juggling act of working full-time, being a mom and being in charge of Christmas.

Christmas cards: I keep a spreadsheet with all the updated addresses so I can mail merge labels and stick them on to mail out quick. I order photo cards from one of the online photo services. I make sure to put my greeting and the date on the card so I don't have to write anything...they can go in the envelope quickly!

Presents: another spreadsheet helps me manage my gift list. I keep up with what I want to buy, what has been purchased, how much things cost to keep me within a budget. I also mark what has been delivered and wrapped. I do most of my shopping online. That way I don't have to spend too much time in the store with my "I want that" crazed three year old son.

Laugh lots! I've found that enjoying Christmas, even with the insanity, through the eyes of my son is the best way to enjoy the season. We sing Christmas songs together, talk about the presents for him and others under the tree and laugh together as we shop in the stores. It is a great way to de-stress Christmas.

I'll post more tips as I remember them!!!
